Common questions
What do I get with the free version?
A lot. As one example, the free miyo browser extension can pull your ChatGPT and Claude chat history onto your computer as plain markdown.
Separately, you can point miyo at any folder on your disk for it to index: notes, research, screenshots, code, whatever you want. Obsidian vaults work too, but your md files don't have to be in an Obsidian vault. miyo works with any folder, and understands PDFs, EPUBs, spreadsheets, and more out of the box.
Whatever's in there becomes context any AI agent can use, whether it's OpenClaw, Hermes, or whatever new agent ships next month.
What do I get with miyo relay?
Everything from the free version, plus the direct ChatGPT/Claude link that lets their web and mobile apps use your local miyo folder remotely as their persistent long-term memory. Prioritized support is included too.
How is this different from ChatGPT's built-in memory?
ChatGPT's memory lives in ChatGPT, only ChatGPT can read it. miyo's memory lives on your computer and works across every AI you use. Switch from ChatGPT to Claude and the new one already knows you.
What does miyo see on my computer?
Only the folder you point it at. No background scans, no cloud uploads. You pick the folder the first time you run miyo and that's the boundary.
Do I need a credit card to try it?
No. The desktop app is free, no account or card needed. miyo relay ($4.99/mo) is only required to connect miyo to ChatGPT or Claude.
How does miyo connect to ChatGPT or Claude?
miyo runs a small local server that ChatGPT and Claude can talk to, using the standard protocol they both support for outside tools. You sign in to miyo relay, link the AI once, and it can read from your miyo folder during chats. Your computer that runs miyo must stay on as the server.
What happens if I cancel miyo relay?
The desktop app keeps working. You lose the ChatGPT/Claude connection until you resubscribe. Your data stays where it is, in files on your computer.
Will it slow down my computer?
miyo is a small tray app. It only reads files in the folder you chose, only when an AI asks. No constant scanning, no background indexing of anything else.
